This forecast was released by market research company Counterpoint Research on August 19. According to experts, smart headphones and smart watches will continue to lead the market, supported by a large user base, emerging health tracking features and the increasingly strong trend of AI (artificial intelligence) integration.
AI is also promoting growth in smart glasses, smart rings and AI rings by providing hands-free experiences and continuous health monitoring.
Commenting on market movements, analyst Anshika Jain said: "The wearable device market is entering a value-oriented phase, where revenue grows by 12% compared to a growth of 6% in the number of products shipped, as buyers upgrade to devices that allow continuous health tracking.
Many cases are shifting from exercise to preventive health care, where devices warn of problems before users realize it. That change has turned wearable devices from an accessory into something that people replace regularly, and that is why this field is a $1,000 billion opportunity until 2032.
Revenue from smart glasses is forecast to reach 44 billion USD by 2032. Cameras, microphones, speakers and screens will allow real-time communication, translation, navigation and support without users frequently accessing their smartphones.
After smart glasses, AI pendants and smart rings will be the fastest growing categories to complement the smart wearable device ecosystem in general, driven by compact design, continuous support and precision sensor capabilities.
Smartwatches and TWS (wireless) headphones will still be the most popular wearable devices, estimated to generate accumulated revenue of 558 billion USD from 2026 to 2032. Their scale is supported by a large number of users, replacement needs, daily use in the fields of health, communication and entertainment, as well as close integration with the smartphone ecosystem.
High-end hardware, mobile connectivity, advanced health sensors and artificial intelligence on the device will support the average selling price (ASP) of smartwatches to increase and expand this portfolio into a platform for preventive health care and personal computing, while TWS's value growth is still limited by feature standardization and price competition.
