Next time you scroll through Instagram or Facebook, you might see video ads edited with AI. Meta is testing a new feature that lets advertisers turn still images into videos.
With the AI animation tool, advertisers can upload a static image and use Meta's tools to create a more visual video.
The new tools can also make existing videos larger. It uses AI to create “invisible pixels in each video frame” to increase their size, similar to how some AI photo editing tools let you expand the background of an image.
Meta is starting to roll out these features now and plans to make them more widely available early next year.
All of this builds on Meta’s existing AI capabilities for advertisers, which already allow companies to use it to generate text and images for ads. These ads will also appear on new full-screen videos coming to Facebook.
Meta isn’t the only platform that uses AI to create ads. Last month, Amazon released an AI tool that generates clips based on product images, and TikTok is also experimenting with using AI-generated avatars in ads.
