On February 24, the Steering Committee for Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation of Ho Chi Minh City just issued a plan to implement Resolution 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation nationwide in Ho Chi Minh City in 2026.
According to this plan, Ho Chi Minh City will focus on completing digital infrastructure, data and network security; ensuring 5G coverage reaches 95% of the population and 100% in large urban areas, high-tech zones, industrial parks, ports, airports, logistics centers...
In addition, the city also researches and pilots 6G in some areas; promotes full online public services, towards comprehensive digital government.
In addition, Ho Chi Minh City will also promote digital transformation in state management, providing full-service public services. The training of high-quality human resources, especially in the field of digital technology, and improving digital capacity for cadres, civil servants, and public employees are also being promoted.
Statistics from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology show that by the end of 2025, Ho Chi Minh City had installed 4,304 5G BTS stations, covering about 68% of the area.
In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City issued a decision approving the Project "Ho Chi Minh City Technology Exchange in the new phase". Along with the establishment of the International Financial Center (IFC), these are considered important developments in completing the science and technology market infrastructure, promoting technology transfer and commercializing research and innovation results in the city.
It is expected that the Vietnam International Finance Center in Ho Chi Minh City (VIFC-HCMC) will have a scale of about 898 hectares, including a part of Ben Thanh, Saigon wards and Thu Thiem New Urban Area.
