CEO Sam altman has said the company will delay the implementation of the free user group for a while, as the number of users interested in this photo creation tool far exceeded expectations.
However, OpenAI has recently quietly opened up access to the group, allowing them to create photos in ChatGPT without having to switch to the separate DALL-E tool as before.
Before the expansion, the feature was only available to paid accounts like Plus, Pro, and Team. Sam altman has said that free users will be able to create up to 3 photos per day.
However, according to the practical experience of some people, some accounts are only allowed to create 1 photo/day. For those who can create more, they still have to wait a few minutes to a few hours to continue using.
One of the most popular trends today is creating Ghibli-style photos from real photos. Users just need to upload photos and instruct ChatGPT using natural language to convert photos to Ghibli animation version.
However, this trend also raises concerns about the legality of using copyrighted works as training data for artificial intelligence.
The reaction of director Hayao Miyazaki - founder of Studio Ghibli - to AI-generated images from many years ago was also mentioned. He once said: "I felt this was an insult to life itself".
In a social media post, Sam altman admitted that the tool can still operate unstably and sometimes refuse to create photos even though it does not violate the policy. OpenAI said it is continuing to fix the problem. The company also told TechCrunch that it would "take action" if the affected person violated its principles of use, but did not specify what measures would be taken.
