Perplexity, an AI startup backed by Nvidia, is creating a new wave with the Comet browser, a product integrated with artificial intelligence to change the way users interact with the internet.
Recently, Perplexity announced plans to bring the Comet trinh to smartphones as a default or pre-implemented application.
This is an ambitious effort to compete directly with Apple's main browsers such as Google Chrome and Safari.
According to Reuters, Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas is negotiating with many phone manufacturers to make Comet the default choice on the device.
He emphasized that becoming a default application will help Comet quickly reach users, build usage habits and improve reliability, which is a vital factor for any new browser.
However, this path is not easy. Srinivas admits that convincing OEMs (original device manufacturers) to switch from Chrome to Comet is a big challenge, especially as users tend to stick with familiar apps.
In addition, changing the default settings is often overlooked by users for its convenience.
Despite the challenges, Perplexity believes Comet has the advantage of its powerful AI integration capabilities. Not only a simple web browsing tool, Comet also acts as a "smart assistant", which can summarize page content, support emails, plan and make smart suggestions in user context.
Comet is not alone in the AI browser race. OpenAI is developing a browser with representative AI, while Google is also expanding AI mode in search engines.
This reflects the rapid shift in the technology industry from traditional web browsers to experiences powered by artificial intelligence.
If successful, Comet can reshape the way users interact with the internet not only by searching, but also by receiving smarter, more personalized and more convenient answers than ever.
