This change has just been confirmed in the latest update note of the Bedrock version, following a previous announcement from developer Mojang in October.
Initially, Mojang was expected to stop supporting in March, but virtual reality (VR) players were given a few more weeks to continue to immerse themselves in the familiar world of squares.
Completely eliminating a platform is not an easy decision for any game developer, especially for a game with a large number of players like Minecraft.
This move shows that Mojang has likely considered carefully and determined that withdrawing from VR will not cause too much disruption to its large player community.
However, the absence ofcraft - one of the world's most famous games in the VR ecosystem - is certainly a less positive signal.
The market still has many games that are highly appreciated enough to retain VR users, but the withdrawal of a "big guy" likecraft also partly raises questions about the future of this platform.
