YouTube upgrades video editor, competes with TikTok

YouTube has just announced a major upgrade for the Shorts video editor.

Notably, a series of new features integrated with artificial intelligence (AI), expected to launch this year, promise to make a difference for this platform.

The new edit feature allows users to perform more accurate editing operations, such as adjusting the length of each clip through the xoom and adjustment features ( snapping).

In addition, users can rearrange, delete scenes, add music, insert text at a specific time and preview videos during editing.

In the near future, YouTube will add a feature to automatically synchronize scenes with background music. Also in the coming time, users can create stickers from photos in their personal library or through an integrated AI photo creator.

These updates show that YouTube is trying to compete with the creative tools that TikTok and Instagram have. In the context of TikTok's uncertain future in the US, YouTube's strong investment in Shorts is a reasonable step to attract users and strengthen its position in the field of short videos.

Previously, in 2024, YouTube also added an automatic voiceover feature - a clear feature inspired by TikTok.
