Apple Vision Pro will soon be able to play PlayStation VR games

Apple is looking into integrating PlayStation VR2 controller support into its Vision Pro mixed reality headset.

Vision Pro, the mixed reality device from Apple, was introduced as a tool focused on productivity and content consumption rather than a product specifically for the gaming community.

However, according to Mark Gurman's article on Bloomberg, Apple is looking to attract more interest from gamers and game developers.

With sales of less than half a million units, Apple sees the need to expand the audience for Vision Pro to compete, so the company is in talks with Sony to integrate PlayStation VR2 controller support into the device.

Currently, Vision Pro mainly uses eye and hand control systems. Although this technology brings a new experience, it still lacks precision and convenience when playing games or using complex software. The addition of the PlayStation VR2 controller will increase the precision of control, providing a smoother experience when playing games that require complex operations.

Apple is aiming to expand Vision Pro's use in more than just gaming. Professional software like Final Cut Pro and Adobe Photoshop could become easier to use thanks to the controller's flexible controls.

In addition to negotiating with Sony, Apple has also begun discussions with game developers to test the feasibility of integrating the PlayStation VR2 controller into existing games. This is considered a strategic step to build a solid gaming ecosystem for Vision Pro.

While there’s no official word on when this feature will be available, Apple’s move shows its commitment to expanding the features and applications of the Vision Pro. By targeting the gaming market, the company not only adds value to the product, but also adds appeal to the device, especially amid fierce competition from other tech companies.

Adding PlayStation VR2 controller support could be a major turning point, bringing Vision Pro closer to becoming a full-fledged mixed reality device. With these improvements, Apple hopes Vision Pro will not only be a work and entertainment tool but also a notable gaming platform, creating strong appeal to the global user community.
