YouTube is testing a new feature called Your Custom Feed. This tool helps users proactively create displayed content on the homepage instead of relying entirely on suggested algorithms. YouTube's accounting has been complained about for easily misunderstanding user behavior and making many inappropriate suggestions.
Test participants will see your Customizable Data Source section appear next to the Homepage button. When selecting this item, users can enter the topics of interest so that the system prioritizes displaying related content. This method is considered more effective than having to continuously click No caring or No suggesting channels when encountering inappropriate content.
The possibility of the new feature being widely rolled out is still unclear. However, allowing users to adjust their own suggestion sources is considered a necessary direction to improve the experience.
Threads and X are also testing algorithmic customization mechanisms in many different ways, showing the trend of social media platforms increasing control for users.
