How to make perilla tea to support liver detoxification

Quang Minh |

Perilla tea is chosen by many people as a drink to support liver detoxification.

Perilla contains many biological compounds such as rosmarinic acid, luteolin, apigenin, flavonoids and polyphenols. These active ingredients have strong antioxidant properties, helping to reduce cell damage caused by free radicals.

This is an important factor because the liver is the organ that undertakes the function of metabolism and detoxification, and is also an area easily affected by oxidative stress when the body is exposed to alcohol, processed foods or harmful agents from the environment.

How to make perilla tea to support liver health:

To make perilla tea at home, users can use fresh perilla leaves or dried leaves.

Materials:

15 - 20g of fresh perilla leaves or about 5 - 10g of dry leaves.

500ml of clean water.

You can add a few slices of ginger or a little honey if you want to enhance the flavor.

How to do it:

Step 1: Wash perilla leaves, soak in diluted salt water for about 5 minutes and drain.

Step 2: Boil 500ml of water, add perilla leaves.

Step 3: Lower heat and cook for another 5-10 minutes to let the active ingredients dissolve into the water.

Step 4: Turn off the heat, cover for about 5 minutes and then filter to get water to drink.

Tea can be kept warm or cooled. You should only use 1-2 cups per day, and should not drink it completely instead of filtered water.

In fact, a healthy liver has the ability to self-metabolize and eliminate toxins. Herbal teas such as perilla tea do not directly clean the liver in an absolute sense, but mainly support the body by providing antioxidant compounds, helping to reduce inflammation and protect liver cells from harmful agents.

To maintain a healthy liver, in addition to using perilla tea, experts recommend limiting alcohol, getting enough sleep, controlling weight, increasing green vegetables, exercising regularly and having regular health check-ups.

These measures are still considered the most important foundation in protecting and supporting long-term liver function.
