Recorded at the exam site of Le Loi Secondary School (Xuan Hoa ward), the atmosphere before the Literature exam was quite tense, many candidates expressed nervousness when entering the opening exam.
Many candidates arrived earlier than the regulated time to take advantage of reviewing the outline, memorizing the structure of the exam paper and stabilizing their psychology before entering the exam room.
Nguyen Khai Hoan said that although he has prepared carefully, he still feels worried because this is not a strong subject.
I am most worried about the social commentary part because it is long to write, requires good reasoning and is easy to get off-topic," Khai Hoan shared.
Commenting on this year's Literature exam, Khai Hoan said that it is highly likely that the exam will be associated with current issues and familiar life values such as love for homeland and country.
With the same nervous mood, Nguyen Hoang Minh Anh said that Literature is the subject that puts him under the most pressure in this exam.
I am most afraid of social commentary because I have to think quickly and present coherently in a short time," Minh Anh said.
According to the female student, during the review process, she focused on practicing the skill of writing argumentative paragraphs and practicing how to clearly deploy ideas to avoid rambling.
Minh Anh also predicts that this year's Literature exam may revolve around topics such as love, personal responsibility or self-development.
At the exam site of Trung Vuong High School (Sai Gon ward), Tran Quoc Viet An, a student of Nguyen Binh Khiem Secondary School (Nha Be commune), said that he was both nervous and looking forward to experiencing the important exam after many months of studying.
Viet An registered to take the Biology specialized class exam of Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted. The male student said that the review process was quite hard but also brought many memorable experiences when studying and competing with friends with the same goals.
Regarding Literature, Viet An said she was somewhat worried because this is the subject she thinks she is weakest in.
The subject I am most worried about is Literature, especially the part of writing paragraphs because I am not really confident in my way of expressing myself," Viet An shared.
Meanwhile, Luu Truong Bach Kien, a student of Hai Ba Trung Secondary School, said that the biggest pressure comes from expectations for the specialized Physics class of Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted.
According to Bach Kien, after a year of stressful study, in the last days before the exam, he proactively reduced the intensity of studying to maintain a comfortable spirit.
For the past year, I have studied quite stressfully. Two days before the exam, I only reviewed lightly and relaxed to save energy. Now I am both excited and worried because this is the exam I have prepared for all year," the male student said.
The 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City in the 2026-2027 school year will take place in 2 days, June 1st and 2nd, with more than 151,000 candidates taking the exam. Public high schools in the city recruit about 118,500 students into 10th grade, equivalent to about 78% of candidates taking the exam have a chance of passing.
Candidates take exams in three subjects: Literature, Mathematics and English. Those who register for specialized or integrated classes will take additional specialized or integrated subjects accordingly. In which, on the morning of June 1st, candidates take the Literature exam in 120 minutes.
This year, the exam is organized at 242 exam sites, including 226 regular exam sites and 16 specialized exam sites, with a total of 6,443 exam rooms. The city's education sector mobilized more than 17,700 teachers, staff and officials to participate in exam supervision and service.
