How to use curry seeds?
Dr Haricharan G, an internist at Gleneagles Hospital, Lakdi Ka Pul, Hyderabad (India) – said that curry seeds are an important ingredient in many dishes and cuisines. They also have many health benefits due to their nutritional components and chemical compounds.
Mahanimbine is one of the substances found in fenugreek seeds that may have hypoglycemic effects. By increasing insulin production and decreasing glucose absorption in the intestines, mahanimbine helps regulate blood sugar levels.
In addition, the high fiber content in fenugreek seeds slows down digestion, causing a gradual rise in blood sugar levels. Therefore, they are a promising addition to a diabetic diet.
Here are ways to use curry seeds to improve your health:
You need to dry the fenugreek seeds, grind them into powder and drink it with water or mix it into your food. “Typically, one should take 1-2 teaspoons of this powder daily, preferably on an empty stomach in the morning. This practice can be continued for several months, but it is essential to monitor your blood sugar levels regularly and consult your doctor to avoid any complications or potential interactions with other medications,” says Dr Haricharan G.
Stressing that fenugreek seeds are best consumed in the morning, Dr Haricharan G added that you should start with a 3-month trial period as this is a typical, optimal strategy.
To determine effectiveness during this time, your blood sugar levels should be monitored regularly. Positive results will indicate whether or not fenugreek is right for you.
Things to note
Sharing the same view, nutritionist Simrat Kathuria, CEO of The Diet Xperts Health Center (India) - noted that, while fenugreek seeds may be beneficial, they should not replace prescribed diabetes medications.
They can be used as an additional preventative measure but cannot replace medical treatment. Their effectiveness comes from their ability to naturally regulate glucose metabolism.
Moderation is important as excessive use can have negative consequences including stomach upset or interactions with diabetes medications. If you have health problems such as diabetes, blood pressure, or digestive issues, consult your doctor before using fenugreek regularly.
