Vietnam ranked 44th out of 133 countries
According to the Global Innovation Index (GII) Report in 2024, Vietnam is ranked 44th out of 133 countries and economies, up 2 places compared to 2023. In the ASEAN region, Vietnam ranks 4th in innovation, after Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
The report shows that Vietnam continues to improve its ranking in innovation input, rising 4 places compared to 2023, from 57th to 53rd. In terms of innovation output, Vietnam rose 4 places compared to 2023, from 40th to 36th. Notably, in 2024, Vietnam will have 3 leading indicators in the world: high-tech imports, high-tech exports and creative goods exports (as a percentage of total trade).
Talking about exports in recent times, Vietnam has had many outstanding digital technology exporting enterprises such as Viettel, FPT, KMS Technology, CMC... These enterprises have affirmed Vietnam's position on the world information technology map.
For example, at the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024, Viettel High Tech and High Cloud Technologies (UAE) signed a contract worth over 1 million USD to provide 5G systems for the Middle East market. To do that, Viettel High Tech must master all technologies from the core network to the access network.
An indispensable mark in technology export activities is FPT announcing the milestone of 1 billion USD in IT service revenue from foreign markets. This result makes FPT the first technology enterprise in Vietnam to achieve a billion USD in revenue from software export, marking the Vietnamese intellectual mark globally and actively contributing to the overall development of the economy.
According to a report by the World Bank (WB), Vietnam's digital technology sector is expected to achieve high growth rates, possibly up to 20% per year in the coming period.
