Ca Mau is implementing many activities to restore and teach Khmer cultural heritage, build folk cultural clubs and support traditional art troupes.

Focusing on teaching heritage to the younger generation

On September 9, the Office of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province said that the Provincial People's Committee has just issued a plan "Restoring, preserving and promoting the good traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities" in the province in 2026.

According to the plan, cultural preservation work is implemented in the direction of linking with community tourism development, promoting the cultural image of ethnic minorities. The province also encourages people to participate in providing cultural and tourism products and services, thereby creating jobs, increasing income and improving life.

One of the notable contents is the organization of a scientific conference on preserving and promoting the values of the Chôl Chnăm Thmây Festival - the traditional Tet of the Khmer people. The province also organizes research, collection, preservation of festivals and training and teaching methods and skills for preserving traditional festivals.

In 2026, Ca Mau is expected to organize 3 training classes, professional development and teaching on preserving and promoting the intangible cultural heritage of the Khmer people's "Big Drum Music" in Tan Loc commune, Khanh Binh commune and Hiep Thanh ward.

The province also built a new folk cultural activity club in U Minh commune. The club is supported with materials, tools, and materials; organizes training, folk culture teaching and maintains periodic activities through practice, performance, and folk arts competitions.

For traditional arts activities, the province supports and guides the organization and operation of 3 art troupes in hamlets and hamlets of Ho Thi Ky commune, Tan Loc commune and Hiep Thanh ward.

The art troupes will stage and perform programs to serve political tasks, cultural and social events, holidays, anniversaries and the cultural enjoyment needs of the people. Support resources are also used to purchase costumes, props, musical instruments, sound and lighting equipment and support training and performance costs.

Promoting cultural values to develop tourism

The plan of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province emphasizes the role of artisans and prestigious people among ethnic minorities. This is a force directly involved in teaching, preserving, introducing traditional cultural values and mobilizing people to preserve national identity.

Ca Mau will organize 3 training classes to teach Ngu Am Music art to Khmer people at Rach Cui Pagoda, Khanh Binh commune; Branch of Ca Mau Ethnic Minority Boarding School, An Xuyen ward and Danh Thi Tuoi Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary School, Da Bac commune.

Along with teaching activities, the province will compile, print and publish a book introducing the cultural heritage of the Hoa people to distribute at tourist destinations in the area.

According to the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, cultural preservation must be practical, avoid formality and waste; and at the same time be associated with community tourism development, promoting the cultural image of ethnic minorities.

Through this, conservation work not only stops at preserving traditional values but also creates conditions for the community to participate in socio-economic development, sustainable poverty reduction and improved living standards.

Funds for the implementation of the plan are allocated from the central budget, local counterpart budgets, and integrated capital from relevant programs, projects, and schemes, along with socialization, sponsorship, aid and other legal mobilized sources.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is the agency in charge of deploying, guiding, urging, inspecting and summarizing the results of the plan implementation.
