On the afternoon of November 14, Mr. Tu Chau, Deputy Consulate General of China in Ho Chi Minh City, had a working session with Phu Quoc Special Zone to discuss the situation of Chinese citizens residing in An Giang province. Receiving the Chinese consulate were leaders of the provincial Department of Tourism and the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone.
At the meeting, Mr. Tu Chau, Deputy Consulate General of China expressed his joy at the sincere and warm reception of the local government in Phu Quoc special zone.
The Consulate General of China discussed the situation of Chinese citizens residing in Fujian, Anjiang Province; and the situation of Chinese tourists coming to Fujian.
According to data from the Immigration Department of An Giang Provincial Police in recent times, foreigners coming to Phu Quoc have increased, including Chinese citizens.
On average, about 400 - 500 Chinese people travel to Phu Quoc by air every day. Chinese people come to the country to enter the country by entering the country by two main routes: air and sea from Rach Gia or Ha Tien.
In the first 10 months of 2025, the number of visitors to Phu Quoc will reach nearly 7.09 million, exceeding the plan by 1.3%, up 34.2% over the same period; of which international visitors will be over 1.3 million.
In general, international tourists coming to Phu Quoc in particular and An Giang in general must comply with the regulations of the Party and the laws of the State of Vietnam. The government and local authorities always create the best conditions for foreigners to travel to Phu Quoc as well as invest in business cooperation.
At the meeting, the An Giang Department of Tourism and Phu Quoc Special Zone also recommended that after the COVID-19 pandemic, some flights were suspended, and requested the Consulate General of China to propose to the Government to reopen flights connecting to Yunnan province.
Regarding cultural diplomacy, it is recommended to have a number of fairs to display cultural products of both sides in Phu Quoc special area or Rach Gia ward. Expand cultural exchange activities such as art performances between the two sides in Phu Quoc, enhance promotional connections for agricultural products in An Giang province through China.
