Steamed chicken with loofah is a rustic dish loved by many people thanks to its natural sweetness, soft chicken meat combined with characteristic fragrant loofah. The dish has a processing method that is not too fussy but still brings an attractive flavor, suitable for family meals.
According to processing experience, to make the dish fragrant and delicious, you should choose native chicken about 1 kg and fresh gourd. Gourd has a characteristic aroma, making the dish more flavorful. If not available, you can replace it with regular gourd.
Materials
1 free-range chicken weighing about 1 kg or portions of chicken according to preference.
2 medium-sized loofahs.
Scallions, pepper.
fish sauce, salt, sugar, cooking oil.
How to do
Step 1: Pre-processing ingredients
Wash chicken with diluted salt water or rub salt to remove odors, then wash again with clean water and drain. Wash scallions, strip. Peel gourd, wash and cut into bite-sized pieces.
Step 2: Marinate the chicken
Marinate the chicken with shredded scallion head, a little salt, fish sauce, sugar, cooking oil and pepper for about 10-30 minutes so that the meat absorbs the spices evenly.
Step 3: Steam chicken with gourd
Place the chicken in a deep plate or steamer tray, steam for about 30 minutes until cooked. Take the chicken out, let cool a little, then chop or tear into bite-sized pieces.
Arrange the chicken back on the plate, put the loofah on top and continue steaming for another 10-15 minutes until the loofah is soft and done.
Steamed chicken with loofah should be served while still hot with white rice. The natural sweetness of chicken combined with soft and fragrant loofah creates a light dish, suitable for meals that want to change the taste without being too elaborate.
