What is oat milk?
According to Food Chemistry X magazine, oat milk is a plant-based milk alternative. The drink is made by soaking oats in water, blending them, and straining the milk.
Oat milk has a delicious, creamy taste and is loved by many vegetarians, people allergic to cow's milk and lactose intolerant. Oat milk is rich in vitamins and minerals, making it a healthy alternative to tea, coffee and many other drinks.
How to make oat milk at home
Ingredient:
125 grams rolled oats
500ml water
A pinch of salt
Sweetener
Flavoring (optional, such as vanilla extract or cinnamon)
High capacity blender
Nut milk bag or fine mesh sieve
Large bowl or vase
Soak the oats: Soak the oats in water for 30 minutes to an hour before blending.
Blend: Add soaked or dried oats, water, salt, sweetener, and flavoring to a blender. Blend on high speed for 30-60 seconds or until smooth and creamy.
Strain the milk: Line a large bowl or pitcher with a nut milk bag or fine-mesh sieve. Pour the blended mixture through the sieve, pressing the pulp to extract as much liquid as possible.
Storing oat milk: Pour strained oat milk into an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 4 - 5 days.
