Mosquitoes on clothes: Hidden risks need early handling
Moss on clothes not only causes unsightliness but also directly affects the durability of the fabric and the wearer's health. According to experts, humid environments or leaving clothes unwashed for a long time are common causes of mold growth.
Will Cotter - owner of FreshSpace Cleaning (USA), recommends: "The first thing you need to do is separate moldy items from clean clothes. Put them in a sealed bag and take them out to prevent mold spores from spreading in the air.
Meanwhile, Shaun Veran - co-founder of OURA (USA), said that mold can stick deep into fabric fibers: "You can remove the visible part, but spores still exist and quickly grow back if not treated thoroughly.
Experts emphasize that early and proper handling is a decisive factor in saving clothes from damage.
5 steps to effectively remove mold on clothes
Step 1: Take clothes out, bring moldy clothes to a ventilated area, shake vigorously to remove spores. You can use a soft brush to gently scrub to increase the initial cleaning effect.
Step 2: Pre-treat the mold, soak clothes in white vinegar solution mixed with water in a 1:1 ratio for 30 - 60 minutes. According to Shaun Veran, vinegar helps kill mold and effectively deodorize.
Step 3: Increase natural cleaning, you can combine baking soda with vinegar to create a stronger cleaning mixture, or use lemon and salt to treat stubborn mold stains.
Step 4: Wash thoroughly with appropriate water, after treatment, wash clothes with warm or hot water (if the material allows) to completely remove any remaining spores.
Step 5: Dry completely, dry clothes in sunlight or a ventilated place. Wells Ye – founder of Fresh Tech Maid, notes that clothes need to be completely dry to prevent mold from returning.
Performing all the above steps not only helps remove mold but also keeps clothes clean, fragrant and durable.
