During the 2026 Lunar New Year, people's demand for travel, shopping, entertainment and financial management increased sharply. The use of technology applications not only saves time but also contributes to limiting the risk of fraud and unplanned spending.
One of the biggest needs during Tet is commuting home and spring travel. Pre-booking tickets early through online platforms helps people avoid overload and limit the risk of buying fake tickets. Train and bus ticket booking applications such as Vexere or official ticket sales applications of Vietnam Railways allow users to search, compare ticket prices and hunt for offers.
Electronic wallets and banking applications such as MoMo, ZaloPay, VNPay or Smart Banking support fast and convenient payments, helping to reduce the need for cash use. In addition, in the inner city, ride-hailing and delivery applications are still popular choices to help people travel or send Tet gifts.
Besides travel, spending management is also an issue of concern to many families. Tet often generates many unexpected expenses such as shopping, gifts or travel. Personal financial management applications such as Money Mate, HomeBudget with Sync or Misa MoneyKeeper help users track revenue and expenditure, classify expenses and build financial plans for the new year. Recording and controlling budgets through applications is considered an effective solution to avoid overspending.
Technology also contributes to enhancing entertainment experiences and family connection during Tet. Some applications provide countdowns for New Year's Eve, create Tet greetings or interactive games to increase engagement between members. Year-end calendar applications support searching for departure dates and times, traditional customs and New Year rituals. Meanwhile, photo and video editing applications help users save spring travel moments with many Tet-themed filters.
In addition to entertainment applications on digital platforms, many smart technology devices are also being chosen by families to support living and preparing for Tet more conveniently. Smart speakers and smart home systems can support controlling music, lighting or indoor devices by voice. Home appliances such as vacuum cleaners help reduce house cleaning work during the busy period near Tet.
From a consumer and entertainment perspective, electronic wallets also allow online lucky money, sending digital lucky money envelopes or quickly paying bills. Video calling platforms such as Zalo, Messenger, FaceTime or Zoom help maintain contact with relatives far away. Online shopping through e-commerce platforms and supermarket applications has also become a trend, helping people prepare gift baskets and Tet food more conveniently. Meanwhile, online movie, music and entertainment platforms meet the relaxing needs of the whole family during long holidays.
However, according to Technology Expert Vu Thanh Thang - Chairman of AIZ Joint Stock Company, people still need to be cautious when installing and using entertainment applications or editing images; prioritize downloading from official sources, carefully check payment information and limit sharing personal data or private images with unverified platforms.
Mr. Thang believes that arbitrary information provision can increase the risk of data leakage, illegal exploitation or serving fraudulent activities in the online environment, so users need to proactively equip themselves with skills to use the digital platform safely to enjoy the Tet season more conveniently and completely.
