In the early morning of April 16, there was hailstorms and thunderstorms in Bac Ha commune. According to the report of the Commune People's Committee, natural disasters have affected 36/59 villages, causing damage in many fields.
Initial records show that there are 4 injured people, who are workers sleeping in a shack in Ngai So village area. The victims have been taken to the emergency room and their health has now stabilized.

Regarding housing, the whole commune has 333 households damaged, mainly due to hailstorms breaking fibro cement roofs, directly affecting people's lives.
Damage in agricultural production is significant. About 370ha of temperate fruit trees that are in harvest season are experiencing mass fruit drops. In addition, about 115ha of annual crops such as corn and vegetables are also affected.
Mr. Nguyen Duy Hoa - Secretary of the Party Committee of Bac Ha commune - said that the damage to housing and agricultural production is very large.
This year, Bac Ha has almost lost the plum and pear crops. Areas affected by hail rain almost have no more harvested output," Mr. Hoa said.


According to initial estimates, the total value of damage caused by the hailstorm in Bac Ha commune is over 30 billion VND. Currently, functional agencies are still continuing to review and statistics in detail.
It is known that immediately after the natural disaster occurred, Bac Ha Commune People's Committee organized a duty shift, inspected the scene, and at the same time directed villages and hamlets to implement response measures.
Police and military forces were mobilized to support people to overcome the consequences and take the injured to the emergency room.

Local authorities have also visited and encouraged the victims, and at the same time maintained 24/24 hour duty forces, ready to handle arising situations. Specialized agencies are sent to the grassroots level to specifically assess the extent of damage, and support people to soon stabilize their lives and production.
