According to SCMP, Mr. Piao Shutang (62 years old, from Shandong province, China) and his wife Lang Aikun are traditional Chinese handmade potters. They have lived happily together for 30 years, making pottery and researching ancient musical instruments. They also teach children how to make and play the painting at an elementary school.
Their happy days ended abruptly when Ms. Lang was diagnosed with cervical cancer and passed away in 2023.
In February this year, Mr. Piao posted a video on social media, saying that he had fulfilled his promise to his wife. That was to make a ceramic pot from ashes for her.

Mr. Piao revealed that this ashes container was for himself, so that after he died, he would be buried with his wife as a reunion. They will always be together in heaven.
The video was made as a message that the craftsman sent to his wife. Mr. Piao said: "This is the most beautiful pottery item I have ever made. What do you think? ".
Mr. Piao also used Ms. Lang's ashes to make 4 pottery pots and two coffins, one large and one small. He said he wanted his children to put two musical instruments and a ashes container in the coffin. Thousands of years later, someone will discover and play these musical instruments.
This will make my wife and I worth it, he said.
Piao posted videos sharing his love for his late wife after her passing away. He praised her artistic talent, describing her as "the world's best potter."
His story was widely spread, attracting thousands of likes and shares on social networks. Some netizens commented: "Genuine love will never die until someone miss you", "It's jealous and touching to see true love still exist in the world today"...
Mr. Piao's actions also inspired many others. A social media user shared: "I also want to make my own ashes after I die, then put the ashes of my parents and grandparents there, so we can be together forever."
