The new episode of the program "Son of a Husband" brings the lovely story of young couple Nguyen Ngoc Ha (25 years old, from Hai Phong) and Sarah (24 years old, Spanish). Not only impressed by the "strange but fateful" way of meeting, the couple also delighted the audience when talking about their unconfirmed love journey, the days of "having fun 24/7" during the pandemic and the surprise proposal on the bus.
Appearing on the show, Mr. Ha introduced himself as working as a phone seller and repairman, flying from Hai Phong to Ho Chi Minh City to participate in filming. Meanwhile, Sarah greeted the audience in a rather fluent Vietnamese language. She said she came to Vietnam in 2014, taught Vietnamese to foreigners, then studied secondary and high school in Vietnam. Sarah's family also lives in Vietnam, so because her father loves this country, he decided to move the whole family to settle down, help Sarah integrate and speak Vietnamese naturally, not to be "ignored" like many foreigners.
The couple have known each other since their college days. Mr. Ha said that they were in the same high school, when he was in grade 12 and Sarah was in grade 11. However, at that time, the two hardly talked and Sarah frankly admitted that "the first time they met, they were not impressed". On the contrary, she only remember Mr. Ha as a person who often participated in the arts at school. Before the offer to try singing, Mr. Ha performed a love song, receiving compliments from the studio. However, when asked if he knew how to sing Latin, he said he did not speak Spanish fluently even though his wife was a native, because since they met Sarah, he has been speaking Vietnamese.
The turning point came after both graduated. Mr. Ha said that he once sat drinking water at a small shop where Latin music was played. He livestreamed and Sarah happened to come in to watch. Seeing the right taste in music, she asked the restaurant address. Mr. Ha "closed" quickly with an invitation: if you want to know the place, I will take you there. That same evening, he turned off livestream, texted and ran back to pick up Sarah to go out. The first meetings took place normally: going to the restaurant, watching movies, having dinner and then leaving, no one had confessed. Sarah said that at that time she left the club out of curiosity about the Latin club, and had not thought about love.
After more than a month and a half, the two felt that their feelings were getting bigger and they loved each other without any need for an official confession. Nearly a year later, they decided to live together right during the COVID-19 pandemic. From meeting a few times a week, the two moved to being together 24/7, not going to work, just hanging around eating and sleeping, leading to conflict.
Mr. Ha shared his principle: don't make a joke about the breakup, if you are divided, you are divided; even when angry, you still say "anh - em". Thanks to that, the couple had never broken up, only argued in the first year, then gradually learned to analyze, apologize for mistakes, and "cooled down" and returned to talk.
Mr. Ha's proposal also took place in a "really coincident" way. On the way to pick up his wife, he stopped by the ring shop and bought it randomly because he didn't know how to size his hand, soaking it with his smallest finger. That evening, seeing Sarah sad, he asked: "If I were to propose, would I get married?". When Sarah answered yes, he turned on the love music and gave her a ring, making her emotional and crying. The couple registered their marriage at the end of 2023 and now have a child, the child is 1 year old.
In the "bad habits" part, Sarah said her husband was lazy with housework, often promised to "a little more" and leave it for tomorrow. Mr. Ha thought that his wife was messy, leaving her belongings wherever she was, even taking off her earrings and the next day asked her husband "where are they". At the end of the program, the two promised to clearly divide housework so that his wife would be more motivated to cook.
