Reduce electricity bills thanks to hot air conditioning tips

NGUYỄN TRANG |

Applying the correct use method and some simple tips below can help air conditioners operate more efficiently, significantly reducing electricity costs in the summer.

According to Dr. Nguyen Xuan Tien (Vice Chairman, General Secretary of the Vietnam Society of Cold and Air Conditioning Science and Technology), for air conditioners to operate effectively, cool well and save electricity in the hot season, users need to pay attention to some proper uses.

Cool the hot knob when the temperature is too high

When the outdoor temperature reaches 40 - 42 degrees Celsius, the air conditioner hot unit is easily overloaded with heat, causing the ability to cool down. People can use water-ducting towels to support cooling the hot unit. The cooler the hot unit, the higher the cooling capacity and the more energy-saving it is.

Combining air conditioning with electric fans

Turning on a fan and air conditioner does not consume too much electricity but also helps air circulate better. When cold air is evenly distributed in the room, the body will feel more comfortable and the air conditioner does not need to operate continuously at high power.

Close the door tightly to avoid the cold.

One of the reasons why air conditioners consume electricity is that the room is exposed, causing cold air to escape and hot air to continuously flood in. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to closing the doors and windows tightly and limiting frequent opening when using the air conditioner.

Limit direct sunlight into the room

Sunlight directly shining on glass doors or room walls will cause the temperature in the house to rise, making the air conditioner have to operate more to cool down. Therefore, families should use curtains, close doors when the sun is harsh or add heat protection measures to reduce heat absorption from the outside.

Regular air conditioner cleaning

Dust clinging to the heating, cooling and filtering systems for a long time will reduce air conditioner cooling efficiency and consume more electricity. Regularly cleaning the air conditioner not only helps save electricity but also increases the lifespan of the equipment and ensures air quality in the house.

Adjust the temperature to an appropriate level

Lowering the air conditioner temperature too low to cool quickly makes the machine operate more powerfully and consume more electricity. Experts recommend maintaining the temperature in the range of 25 - 28 degrees Celsius to both ensure comfort, limit heat shock and save electricity.
