Man doesn't talk to wife for 20 years

Angry with his wife, Japanese man refused to communicate with his wife in daily life for 20 years.

According to Daily Mail, a man living in Nara city, Japan has refused to talk to his wife for about 20 years. Although he still communicates regularly with his children, Mr. Otou Katayama only responds to Ms. Katayama Yumi with some gestures such as nodding or mumbling to himself.

Conversations at home were often one-sided, as if Mrs. Katayama Yumi were communicating with herself. The "silent treatment" between the couple left their three children confused.

So the son wrote a letter to a Japanese program, broadcast on Hokkaido TV, hoping that the producers could intervene in time to resolve the problem between his parents. Accepting the challenge, the TV program stepped in and worked with the relevant parties.

After being interviewed, Mr. Otou Katayama revealed the reason why he did not talk to his wife.

The man said: "I feel jealous and resentful because my wife has been so attentive and caring for the children since they were born. It seems like my wife has abandoned me and only thinks about the children. I have regretted my actions for many years."

Despite her husband's cold treatment, the wife still showed concern for him and was willing to resolve the misunderstanding. Ms. Katayama Yumi said, "How old are you? What kind of food do you like? What color do you like? I'll tell you how I feel now. I want to talk to you, let's meet at Nara Park?"

Thanks to the program's arrangement, the two grandparents met at the park under the remote observation of their children and production team members.

After much hesitation, Mr. Otou spoke to his wife: "I don't know why we haven't talked for a long time. You've been so worried about the children. You've endured so much hardship up until now. I want you to know that I'm very grateful for everything you've done. Let's talk and work together."

Hearing her husband's confession, his wife was willing to forgive him for his actions over the past 20 years. The children burst into tears when they saw their father speak and communicate directly with their mother after a long time.

The above story after being shared on social networks created a wave of controversy.

Many people said: "That is an act of emotional abuse, causing psychological damage. The above behavior is terrible. If I were Ms. Yumi, we would have divorced. If Mr. Otou Katayama wants to be silent, then do it alone."
