Raising children sometimes makes parents feel like they are wandering through the sand, especially when children are active, mischievous and often annoying.
An interesting parenting strategy called Kidulting is being focused on as an effective way to connect parents and children.
Kidulting is when adults proactively participate in activities like children, from playing board games to painting, to exploit the childish moments inside them.
Dr. Padma Priya, senior consultant in the department of psychiatry at SIMS Hospital, Chennai, said that playing with children helps strengthen relationships and create a safe space where children feel cared for and connected.
When parents become happier and more optimistic, children feel close and can easily share their worries, while excessive strictness sometimes makes children only obey out of fear.
Moreover, kidulting also promotes creativity in both parents and children, but still needs to be balanced so as not to neglect basic parenting principles such as living hours or diet.
Kidulting brings five practical benefits to every family. First, take a short break to reduce stress, such as 5 minutes of winding, solving puzzles or playing a mini table tennis game, helping both parents and children relax.
Second, creative projects practice with children, such as assessing LEGO, painting or making handicrafts, developing creativity and collaboration skills.
Third, play and connect in groups through evening games at the table, watching nostalgic movies or participating in community clubs, increasing social cohesion.
Fourth, the nostalgic corner with favorite toys, snack containers or a list of music to remind memories, helps children and parents experience a warm, continuous feeling.
And finally, role-playing games such as shaping, coloring, gardening or building block towers with children help increase direct interaction, creating joy and closeness without using a phone.
Rahul Chandalia, WOL3D Director, emphasized that Kidulting is not only for parents but is also suitable for all ages, helping to reduce stress, foster creativity and sustainable connectivity.
When integrated into daily life, Kidulting becomes an interesting, easy-to-use parenting strategy that brings joy to the whole family without turning games into clinical interventions.
