On December 19, Song Joong Ki attended the press conference for his movie “Bogota: City of the Lost” in Gangnam, Seoul (South Korea), after which he had a special interview.
During this press conference, Song Joong Ki was asked if he was worried that the film might present a one-sided portrait of Bogota - the capital of Colombia - which is portrayed as a crime hub in the film.
In response, Song Joong Ki mentioned his surprising connection to the country, revealing, “My mother-in-law is Colombian. Many members of my wife’s family live there.”
Through this connection, the actor said he became aware of past deliberate efforts to erase the country's image of rampant crime.
Song Joong Ki recalled his fond memories of Colombia, saying, “The Colombia I lived in was filled with excitement, passion, and delicious food. I also saw people trying very hard to escape that image.”
Song Joong Ki has talked about his wife, British actress Katy Louise Saunders, in interviews since their marriage. But this is the first time he has shared information about his wife's family.
Song Joong Ki publicly announced his relationship with Katy Louise Saunders at the end of 2022. Katy was born in 1984, 1 year older than Song Joong Ki.
In early 2023, the "Vincenzo" star announced that he had registered his marriage and that his wife was pregnant with their first child. In mid-June of the same year, the actor's son was born. In November of this year, the couple welcomed their second daughter.
After years of hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the movie "Bogota: City of the Lost" starring Song Joong Ki will be released on December 31. The film tells the story of immigrants who start a life of reckless survival in Bogota.
