Doan Ngo Tet is one of the familiar traditional holidays in the cultural life of Vietnamese people. This holiday takes place on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month every year.
In 2026, the Doan Ngo Tet falls on Friday (June 19 of the Gregorian calendar).
In folk beliefs, this is also known as the "worm killing day". The ancients believed that there are parasites in the human body that affect health, so it is necessary to perform rituals and use some typical foods to eliminate them.
On this occasion, many families prepare seasonal fruits, rice wine or sticky rice wine for breakfast. These are dishes associated with traditional customs, preserved through many generations and become a unique cultural feature during the Doan Ngo Tet of Vietnamese people.
