Lao Dong Newspaper respectfully introduces the full text of General Secretary and President To Lam's speech at the meeting of 100 typical examples in the "Good Deeds" program of Vietnam Television.

Dear comrades, distinguished delegates,

Dear uncles, brothers, sisters, and grandchildren - 100 typical examples of the "Good Deeds" Program,

Today, I am very happy and touched to meet the uncles, brothers, sisters, and grandchildren - ordinary but noble people, typical examples of the "Good Deeds" program of Vietnam Television.

In life, there are things that are not noisy, not big in form, but touch people's hearts: a hand reaching out at the right time; a look of sharing, sympathy, a gesture in adversity; a persistent care; a brave action to save people; a silent good deed, not expecting to be rewarded... These things make us see that, amidst life's many pressures and difficulties, kindness is still present around us, in life, kindness has a higher and further impact and spread.

Today's meeting is therefore not only an opportunity to commend 100 typical examples, but also an opportunity for us to cherish a very beautiful value of the Vietnamese nation: Knowing how to love others, living with affection, putting common interests above personal interests, doing good things from ordinary daily deeds with the spirit of people living together to love.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, I cordially send to comrades, delegates and all uncles, brothers, sisters, and grandchildren my warmest regards, warmest congratulations and most respectful feelings. Congratulations to VTV for having a very humane program; request the station to continue to discover and spread more beautiful examples in the coming time.

Dear comrades, distinguished delegates,

78 years ago, in the context of the country still facing countless difficulties, President Ho Chi Minh issued the Call for Patriotic Emulation. That call has become a sacred call of the country, encouraging the entire people and army to overcome hardships and sacrifices, joining hands to make glorious victories in the cause of fighting for independence, national reunification, building and protecting the Fatherland.

The profound thing in Uncle Ho's thought is that emulation is not something strange, not just a formal slogan, but starts from each person's daily work. Farmers emulation to produce well. Workers emulation to work creatively. Soldiers emulation to protect the Fatherland. Officials emulation to wholeheartedly serve the People. Teachers emulation to sow letters, sow character. Doctors emulation to save people, take care of people's health. Neighbors "light on, light off" together. Each person doing their part well, for the common good, that is emulation; that is also patriotism.

Looking from that spirit, a kind act today is also a vivid manifestation of patriotic emulation. Because patriotism is not only expressed in the great moments of history, but also present in every responsible action, every humane gesture, every beneficial action for people, for the community, for the country.

100 examples present today come from many regions, many ages, many professions, many different circumstances, with very special circumstances. Each person has a story, each action has a way of expression, but all meet each other in a very beautiful common point: not being indifferent to other people's difficulties; not standing aside when the community needs them; "the healthy leaf protects the torn leaf", loving, compassionate, knowing how to keep kindness in difficult circumstances.

What moves us is not only how many people, how many things the uncles, brothers, sisters, and grandchildren have helped; but more deeply, the spirit of living behind those actions: compassion for the pain of others; courage when facing danger; responsibility when seeing what needs to be done; persistence when doing good things silently.

There are great deeds that save human lives in the blink of an eye. There are silent deeds over many years. There are deeds that are not well known, but have warmed a destiny, opened a path, and preserved a belief. All are precious, because every decent deed, whether big or small, makes society less cold, warmer, more humane, and more worth living.

Dear comrades, distinguished delegates,

Our country is entering a new stage of development with great opportunities, great aspirations and also many difficulties and challenges. The goal of building a developed, prosperous, civilized, prosperous, and happy Vietnam is a noble and glorious goal, but it requires great efforts from the entire Party, people, and army.

To achieve that goal, we need resources, technology, institutions, infrastructure, and talents; we need innovation, digital transformation, and improved labor productivity; we need to build a socialist rule-of-law state, develop the economy, take care of social security, and deeply integrate internationally, proactively and effectively.

But along with all of that, we must never underestimate the foundation of culture, ethics, people and social beliefs. Development is not just about making more wealth, building more works, achieving more targets. Deep and sustainable development is about making people live in a safer, more compassionate, fairer society, with discipline, with belief, with the opportunity to rise up and with responsibility to each other.

A society lacking trust has very high development costs. When the right is protected, the good is encouraged, the weak are not left behind, and those who dare to do good deeds do not feel lonely, then social trust is strengthened. And trust is a very important resource for national development.

Therefore, it is necessary to recognize kindness not only as personal moral qualities. Kindness is also social capital, cultural strength, and part of the foundation of a civilized nation. Kind people not only know how to love others, but also know how to live responsibly; not only know how to help, but also know how to respect the law, righteousness and human dignity; not only do good things when it is favorable, but also maintain personality in difficulties, challenges and temptations. We strive for kindness throughout our lives, kind families, kind people, and kind society.

A decent official is someone who is devoted to the people, impartial, diligent in his work, and does not abuse power to seek personal gain. A decent businessman is someone who gets rich legitimately, does honest business, and is responsible to society and the environment. A decent teacher not only imparts knowledge, but also sows personality, aspirations, and compassion for students. A decent doctor not only treats and saves people, but also takes care of patients with medical ethics, dedication, and compassion. A decent young person not only has competitiveness, but also has the ideal of dedication. A decent citizen not only lives for themselves, but also knows how to share with the community, protect the right, and is not indifferent to the wrong, the bad, and the evil.

Kindness is even more not being lenient, careless or avoiding struggle. Kindness is being kind but principled; tolerant but not condoning; loving people but resolutely protecting justice, fairness and social discipline.

In the digital age, kindness needs to be expressed more specifically: respecting the truth, not spreading false information, not using social networks to insult or hurt others, knowing how to debate culturally, knowing how to spread positive things, not taking advantage of numbers to be "virtual", to be "possessed". In the market economy, kindness is competing by capacity, doing business by trust. In national governance, kindness is serving the People, protecting national and ethnic interests. In international integration, kindness is maintaining the prestige and good image of the country, respecting the law and fairness in relationships.

Dear comrades, distinguished delegates!

For more than a decade, the "Good Deeds" program of Vietnam Television has persistently searched, recorded and spread beautiful stories in life. Thousands of stories about kindness have been told, becoming vivid proofs of the qualities of Vietnamese people in the new era.

What is precious is that the program not only reflects the good, but also contributes to making the good more clearly seen, more respected, more protected and multiplied more strongly. In multi-dimensional information life, when negativity sometimes spreads very quickly, persistently spreading the positive is a responsible, courageous and deeply socially meaningful choice.

I highly appreciate Vietnam Television, the team of people working on the "Good Deeds" program, agencies, organizations, businesses, and individuals who have accompanied the program. The comrades have contributed to the implementation of an important task of revolutionary journalism: taking the good to eliminate the bad, taking the positive to push back the negative, taking vivid examples to arouse belief, compassion and the desire to contribute in the People.

Dear comrades, distinguished delegates,

To continue to promote the value of the "Good Deeds" Program, replicate good people, good deeds and deepen the spirit of patriotic emulation in the new period, I propose that agencies and the entire people pay attention to effectively implementing the following 3 contents:

First, innovate the patriotic emulation movement in a substantive and practical direction, associated with the task of developing the country and serving the People. Emulation in the new period is not only about completing targets, but about creating real value for society; not only doing more, but doing better, more effectively, and more responsibly. Each agency and unit must improve service quality; each locality must remove bottlenecks, take care of people's lives; each cadre and party member must be honest, dedicated, close to the people, respect the people, and for the people; each citizen must work creatively, live responsibly, and contribute to the common interests, for the stability and development of the country.

Second, attach importance to building standards for Vietnamese people in the new era and a favorable social environment for kindness to be protected and spread. We need people who are patriotic, brave, intelligent, kind, honest, responsible, disciplined, creative and have aspirations to rise up. These qualities must be cultivated from family, school, community, agency, organization and the entire social environment. Along with that, it is necessary to promptly recognize and reward appropriately, protect courageous and humane actions for the common good; strictly handle acts of taking advantage of kindness, charitable profiteering, impersonating kindness, and harming social trust.

Third, strongly promote the role of journalism, media, literature and art, education and digital platforms in spreading positive values. Today's cyberspace is a very important part of social life. Kindness must also be present in cyberspace: in the way of speaking, sharing information, debating and treating others. Each citizen, especially the younger generation, needs to become a responsible digital citizen: knowing how to spread good things, not spreading fake news, not offending, not following the bad, not turning indifference into a habit.

Honoring is necessary, but honoring should be the starting point. The important thing is that after each story is told, there must be more people who want to live better, work better, and be more responsible to their families, communities and the country. The more they live, the more kind they become. Each school, agency, residential area, and business can become a space to nurture good deeds, spread kindness, and build trust.

Dear uncles, brothers, sisters, and dear grandchildren,

The Party, State and People always cherish the noble deeds of the uncles, brothers, sisters, and children. There are deeds that have not been fully recognized, there are sacrifices that are not known to many people, there are difficulties that comrades silently overcome. But it is this silentness that creates the deep beauty of human kindness, of society.

I hope that the uncles, brothers, sisters, and grandchildren will continue to maintain the flame of compassion, continue to do useful things for life, and continue to be inspiring nuclei in the community.

Wishing the "Good Deeds" Program to continue to persevere on the journey of sowing faith, supporting goodness, and lighting up the good qualities of Vietnamese people.

Wishing comrades, delegates and all uncles, brothers, sisters, and grandchildren good health, happiness and success.

Thank you very much.
