In recent days, the case of actor Li Yapeng being supported with tens of millions of yuan to "rescue" Yen Nhien Children's Hospital (Beijing), facing the risk of having to relocate due to not being able to pay the rent, has caused a stir in the Chinese entertainment industry.
This is the first private non-profit general pediatric hospital in China, co-founded by Li Yapeng, his ex-wife Wang Fei, and several others. In the past 10 years, the hospital has performed more than 7,000 free cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries, through the Yen Nhien Angel Fund (established in 2006).
When the incident attracted attention, the relationship between Ly A Bang and his ex-wife Vuong Phi was also discussed again. After the two artists divorced in 2013, Vuong Phi continued to support his ex-husband's charity journey.
The public audit report of the Yen Nhien Angel Fund recently revealed that from 2013 to 2023, Vuong Phi anonymously donated a total of 32.68 million RMB (about 123 billion VND), used exclusively to pay for the fund's operating expenses.
This money does not go into "easily visible" items such as surgery for children, but is used for the most silent things: office rent, employee salaries... this money has made an important contribution to supporting the entire foundation of the charity project.
Wang Fei's allocation is extremely detailed: 850,000 RMB per year for office rent; 2.16 million RMB for salaries and insurance for 12 employees; 280,000 RMB for project audit fees; and 478,000 RMB for allowances for medical volunteers in remote areas... each item is accurate, covering the entire administrative stage.
The female singer has never mentioned public donations, only quietly wrote in the financial note a simple line: "used to cover administrative expenses". This silence was only known when the audit report was released.

In the early years of establishing the fund with Ly A Bang, Vuong Phi was not "hidden" in charity activities. From 2007 to 2012, the female singer directly organized the Yen Nhien charity gala, taking advantage of her influence to invite friends in the entertainment industry to participate.
In just 4 galas, the total fundraising amount exceeded 150 million RMB, in 2012 alone, one session raised 54 million RMB. Many people believe that without Vuong Phi's call at that time, the Yen Nhien Fund probably could not have started smoothly.
In 2010, when returning to the tour, she also used a portion of each music night's revenue to invest in building Yen Nhien Hospital. At that time, she was the pioneer standing under the stage lights to speak out for charity activities.
After divorcing Ly A Bang, Vuong Phi gradually withdrew from the front line of charity activities. She no longer appeared at fundraising parties, and rarely publicly mentioned the Yen Nhien Fund. But Vuong Phi never stopped donating.
In early 2026, Yen Nhien Children's Hospital fell into a crisis of debt for premises rental, causing Vuong Phi's silence to be unexpectedly pushed to the center of public opinion.
Hospital owed 26 million CNY in rent, facing the risk of closure. Many people who did not understand the situation criticized Vuong Phi, saying that she was the founder but did not help.
But the truth is that the hospital and the charity fund are two independent legal entities. According to the Charity Law, the fund's money is only used for surgery for children with cleft lip - cleft palate, and cannot be used to pay for premises.
When the truth gradually became clear, public opinion also began to reverse. People realized the importance of the donations over the past ten years from Vuong Phi, and also realized that the female singer still enthusiastically supported her ex-husband's charity journey, even though she had been divorced for decades.
