On the afternoon of January 20, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the Thanh Hoa Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board (Thanh Hoa Industrial Project Management Board) said that, implementing the direction of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, on the same day, the unit coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Department of Construction and Dong Quang Ward People's Committee to conduct a field inspection at Hon Vong Phu relic.

After actual inspection, the units have held meetings and given opinions. In the near future, after agreeing and summarizing the opinions, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will have a specific report to send to the Provincial People's Committee" - a representative of the Thanh Hoa Industrial Project Management Board informed.
Also according to the Thanh Hoa Industrial Project Management Board, previously, the unit had a report sent to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the implementation of the project to preserve and reinforce the Hon Vong Phu relic belonging to the An Hoach mountain art and scenic relic complex (Nhoi mountain, Dong Quang ward).
According to the report, the project was started construction from July 5, 2025 and is expected to be completed before December 31, 2025. Before construction, the investor established a Relic Assessment Council according to regulations, with the participation of representatives of the investor, Dong Quang Ward People's Committee, Department of Science and Technology, Thanh Hoa Center for Historical Research and Heritage Conservation and related units.

The project has a total investment of 17 billion VND, of which construction costs are 13 billion VND, the remaining amount is project management costs and construction investment consulting costs.
In the construction cost of 13 billion VND, the investor implemented items such as: installing a rail system to transport materials and materials; covering Hon Vong Phu to fix; drilling core including 7 holes (of which drilling from the top to the base is 4 holes, drilling from the middle to the base is 3 holes), installing steel into the drilling holes, then pumping Sika mortar.
Explaining why the project is whiter than before reinforcement, the investor said that the structure of the Hon Vong Phu body is bright white limestone. Before the construction time, most of the surface around the relic was covered with moss and dust over time, creating a dark color.
During construction, Hon Vong Phu was wrapped in a nylon layer before spraying foam to prevent materials from sticking directly to the rock surface. After about 2 months, when the foam and nylon layers were removed, the moss and old dust on the rock surface peeled off, making the relic more white than before.
Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported, Hon Vong Phu national relic was facing the risk of collapse after being struck by lightning many times. Faced with this situation, in mid-2024, Thanh Hoa City People's Committee (old) invested in a lightning protection system at Hon Vong Phu relic with a total cost of more than 800 million VND.
Next, in May 2025, Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee approved the investment project to build a project to preserve and reinforce the Hon Vong Phu relic with a total investment of 17 billion VND from the provincial budget, the project implementation time to be completed before December 31, 2025.
After the project was approved, the construction unit urgently deployed relic reinforcement items. After many months of construction, the project is now almost completed. However, images of Hon Vong Phu relic after reinforcement and handling have caused much debate on social networks.
Before the information reflected by the press and public opinion related to the Hon Vong Phu relic, Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has issued a document requesting functional sectors and relevant units to inspect and handle the information reflected according to regulations.
