Recently, the TV series "The Path" aired its final episode (episode 36) and received great attention from the audience, when Hong's (played by Doan Quoc Dam) journey of revenge came to an end but still had unpredictable developments.
In the final episode, Hong successfully cooperated with the police to complete the project to destroy the drug trafficking ring of "old" Quan. However, his ending was not happy.
Hong was disowned by his mother and younger brother Khuong because they thought he had indirectly caused the death of his father (Le Toan). Hong also did not directly meet his younger brother, only leaving a letter. He wandered because he had no family left.
Hong decided to go back to the countryside to see Diem again. But right in front of Diem's house, Hong was stabbed by Tan, in revenge for killing her father. Hong collapsed in Diem's arms.
The scene where Hong was stabbed in the final minutes of the film left many viewers upset and disappointed. Hong had gone through a dangerous and difficult journey, was eventually rejected by her family, and suffered an unexpected death.
Audiences debated heatedly on film forums. Some comments pointed out signs that Hong was not dead.
In Tan’s final sentence, he was only sentenced to 36 months in prison for murder, and ordered to “pay hospital fees and compensate Le Vu Hong.” Therefore, it is likely that Hong received timely emergency care and survived.
Furthermore, the producer previously revealed that "The One" will have a part 2, so the audience believes that Hong will return.
This is not the first time Doan Quoc Dam’s on-screen death has been the subject of much debate. In the 2018 film “Quynh Doll,” the death of his character Canh caused a stir among fans of the film.
Doan Quoc Dam's role ended quite early when the movie "Quynh Doll" was only halfway through. In episode 15, when Canh tried to take Quynh's child and run away, he was blocked and beaten by Vu's henchmen.
Vu then said that he had made up a case that looked like Canh had a traffic accident. In reality, he had his underlings put Canh on the train tracks, causing him to lose his life. Quynh also received a call saying that Canh had been run over and killed by a train.
Canh's death made the audience regretful and angry. On all film forums, the audience argued and hoped that the filmmaker would revive Canh.
In response to the audience's reaction, in the final episode (episode 28), Canh suddenly appeared, driving a large-displacement motorbike, then stopped at a river. The film ended with the moment Canh looked straight into the camera with a cold gaze.
This detail once made viewers of "Quynh Doll" confused and debated the fate of the character played by Doan Quoc Dam.
Some viewers believe that Canh may actually still be alive, because in episode 15, his death was only announced through a phone call. Viewers expect “Quynh Doll” to have a part 2 and Canh will return.
But in reality, the movie "Quynh Doll" only has 1 part, so whether Canh is alive or dead is still a controversial topic until now.
It can be seen that Doan Quoc Dam has been very successful in portraying his roles, receiving the love and support of the audience.
When Canh died, many viewers called for the show to be “dropped”. When Hong was stabbed, viewers were outraged that the screenwriter had made his fate so cruel.
