On April 17, international media reported that the Los Angeles Police Department (USA) confirmed that it had arrested D4vd for killing Rivas Hernandez.
Currently, the male singer is being temporarily detained and not granted bail.
Authorities said, "the case file will be submitted to the District Attorney's Office on Monday for prosecution review.
Previously, in September last year, Los Angeles police were called to a trailer park in Hollywood after receiving a report of foul odor coming from a detained car, registered under the name D4vd. This car was towed away from Hollywood Hills after showing signs of being abandoned.
In the car, police found a dismembered body, later identified as Celeste Rivas Hernandez, 14 years old. The girl was reported missing in 2024 and was last seen at Lake Elsinore, about 60 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Forensic Office said Rivas Hernandez died in the car "a long time before being discovered".
In November 2025, D4vd was identified by investigators as a suspect related to the death of Rivas Hernandez.
In a statement sent to the New York Times on Thursday, the Los Angeles County Attorney's Office confirmed the arrest of the 21-year-old singer and said it is expected that the case will be transferred to the Department of Serious Crimes.
D4vd was born in 2005, raised in Houston (Texas, USA). He became famous around 2022 after a series of songs went viral on TikTok and SoundCloud such as "Romantic homicide", "Here with me".
When his music career progressed, he was the opening guest for SZA and then performed at the Coachella 2025 music festival.
