The action movie "Bloodhounds" (Vietnamese title: Chó săn công lý) tells the story of 2 young people who enter the world of usury to earn money and are caught up in a network with dark forces.
After destroying the loan shark gang in the first season, Gun Woo (Woo Do Hwan) and Woo Jin (Lee Sang Yi) confront the illegal boxing tournament led by Baek Jeong (Bi Rain) in season 2.
Season 2 of the film premiered on April 3 and quickly rose to the top of the charts in Korea and the 2nd position globally in the non-English TV series category on Netflix. This achievement is considered remarkable as age-limited content often narrows the audience.
Initially, "Bloodhounds 2" only ranked 5th on the first day of release. However, thanks to the word-of-mouth effect, the work quickly increased in rank, reaching number 1 from the second day and maintaining it to this day.
According to Korean media, the appeal of season 2 comes from expanding the scale of the story. If the first season focused on the world of usury, the next season brought viewers into international underground boxing tournaments, with the level of violence and drama pushed higher.
The duo Woo Do Hwan and Lee Sang Yi continue to play the roles of Gun Woo and Woo Jin. The brotherly relationship of the two characters is still a constant emotional support, besides the tense matches.
One of the highlights of this season is the appearance of Bi Rain in the villain Baek Jeong role. The character is built as the person behind the illegal boxing ring, dominated by money and power. This is also a rare time that the male singer and actor takes on a clear villain role, receiving many positive feedbacks.
Speaking about the role, Bi Rain said that this is a challenge that is both stressful and interesting. "Playing a villain role is somewhat heavy, but I always want to try at least once." The actor said that he decided to accept the role and put aside familiar acting standards after working with director Kim Joo Hwan.
According to Bi Rain, the detailed instructions from the director helped him clearly define the villain image. "The director requires eyes to be cold even when smiling, a strong but not too muscular figure. It feels like being re-trained from the beginning, but in a positive direction" - he said.
Besides the plot and acting, the film's scenes are elaborately staged, highly confrontational. Many segments are made with high intensity, increasing the feeling of authenticity when the actors directly participate in action scenes.
The participation of Lee Si Eon, Dex, Park Seo Joon and Choi Si Won as guests contributed to increasing the attraction and discussion on social networks.
Along with the success of season 2, the first season of "Bloodhounds" also returned to the top 10 chart on Netflix, showing the spread of the film series.
