TWICE member Chaeyoung officially announced her departure from JYP Entertainment after 14 years of attachment. The female singer will develop her solo career through her own company Lil Fantasy, and affirmed that she will continue to operate with TWICE.
On August 13, Chaeyoung sent a message to the ONCE fan community, sharing about a new turning point in her career. The female singer said she will build her own music activities through Lil Fantasy, opening a journey of independence after more than a decade under the management of JYP Entertainment.
The noteworthy point is that Chaeyoung emphasized that she will not leave TWICE. In the message, the female singer affirmed that the group's activities are still maintained, and at the same time has a lot of affection for the members. She believes that the time working with TWICE is an important foundation to help her receive love from the public.
Chaeyoung expressed her desire for the audience to continue to welcome both "Chaeyoung of TWICE" and "Chaeyoung of Lil Fantasy". According to the female singer, these two roles can coexist and bring meaningful music products to listeners.
After 14 years of accompanying JYP, Chaeyoung also sent thanks to the company, TWICE team and members. She especially appreciates the trust and support that JYP has given her throughout her career.
Chaeyoung joined JYP when she was a trainee and debuted with TWICE in 2015. In the group, she took on the rapper position, while gradually expanding her role to composing and participating in shaping personal music colors.
The establishment of Lil Fantasy is considered a new step in Chaeyoung's personal career building process. With an independent operating unit, the female singer has more space to proactively choose music, images and personal projects.
In fact, Chaeyoung has prepared for this direction in advance. In September 2025, she released her debut solo album "Lil Fantasy vol. 1", marking her first clear introduction of personal colors after many years of operating in the TWICE lineup.
The album attracted the attention of professionals and international audiences, appeared in Rolling Stone's list of 100 best albums of 2025, and was also selected by Forbes and Billboard in the lists honoring outstanding K-pop albums.
The imprints from the first solo product laid the foundation for Chaeyoung to continue expanding her personal activities. If TWICE brings her a collective operating environment, Lil Fantasy can become a space for the female singer to more clearly express her personality and artistic orientation.
However, Chaeyoung does not see her solo career as a separation from TWICE. She calls the group her "root" in her journey and affirms that she still wants to maintain both roles.
Before Chaeyoung, Nayeon and Jihyo also released solo products, while other members have expanded their activities to many fields besides the group's general schedule. Chaeyoung's development of her own career therefore does not change TWICE's position in her journey.
14 years after her debut, Chaeyoung is entering a new phase with more initiative in her personal career. However, the female singer still maintains a relationship with TWICE and ONCE.
Chaeyoung closed the message with a promise to continue to try new things, become a better version of herself and hopes fans will continue to follow the road ahead.
