According to Allkpop, Galaxy Corporation - the management company of singer G-Dragon (Big Bang) - has just announced the first large-scale audition for a virtual music group.
The company announced that the 2025 global virtual artist audition will take place on September 8, at El Rey Theater in Los Angeles (USA) for all ages, races and gender.
This is Galaxy Corporation's first public K-pop idol selection campaign under the management of a newly established artist department. Previously, the company focused on developing AI technology and producing entertainment content.
The company aims to create "borderless artists", with the image of digital representatives vividly recreated through Motion Recording technology, voice acting and interaction with fans.
The selected artists will undergo a professional training course in singing, rapping, dancing and performing on the virtual stage before debuting as part of the virtual idol group.
Famous for producing Netflix's hit reality show "Physical 100", the company is now moving towards the super entertainment era (metaverse) and expanding its business to artist management.
Previously, Galaxy Corporation had only one entertainer, G-Dragon. He signed a contract with the company at the end of 2023, after leaving YG Entertainment.
Recently, there was information that veteran actor Song Kang Ho is negotiating to join Galaxy Corporation. But the company representative said: "No decision has been made yet."
With the success of the Korean virtual group PLAVE, and the explosive international achievements that the Huntr/x virtual groups and Saja Boys in the recently released animated film "Kpop Devils In Search of the Sea" have achieved, Galaxy Corporation's move is expected to be a bold step forward in reshaping the future of Kpop.
G-Dragon released a new album called "Übermensch" earlier this year, after joining Galaxy Corporation. The male singer is on a solo tour through many cities around the world.
