On August 7, Hong Kong media (China) reported that the police had received more than 30 complaints about ticket fraud related to the 3 "Übermensch" concerts of male singer G-Dragon (Big Bang), which will be held at the AsiaWorld Gymnasium on August 8-10.
The total amount of damage is up to 610,000 USD (about 2 billion VND).
The victims were mainly approached through concert ticket sales posts on Facebook and other social networks. During the transaction, scammers demand additional deposits and other fees, leading to victims transferring even larger amounts of money.
Some victims were scammed out of up to 180,000 USD (about 600 million VND).
G-Dragon's solo concerts in Hong Kong (China), marking his first comeback in 8 years, were "sold out" right after opening for sale, proving the Korean singer's terrible appeal. Taking advantage of this, ticket brokers and scammers have hoarded tickets and resold them at prices 2 to 5 times higher than the original price.
In particular, for the VVIP seats at the final performance, black market tickets were sold for up to 120,000 HKD (about 400 million VND), further increasing the chaos in the market.
Previously, in Taiwan (China), a group of ticket speculators were caught red-handed buying large concert tickets, then increasing the price to 6-12 times higher than the purchase price. The total profit from illegal ticket sales activities is up to about 700,000 USD.
The authorities estimate that the group had purchased about 3,000 pre-booked tickets for the concerts, including about 1,500 tickets for G-Dragon's concerts.
After making his comeback with the studio album "Übermensch" in February this year, G-Dragon is on a large-scale world tour.
Starting from Seoul (Korea), he has successfully held shows in Tokyo, Bulacan, Osaka, Ma Cao (China), Sydney, Melbourne, Taiwan (China), Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta.
After 3 shows in Hong Kong (China) from August 8-10, G-Dragon will meet fans in cities in the US and France.
