Born in 1973 in Bac Ninh, People's Artist Tu Long grew up in a family with artistic traditions. Before pursuing professional art, he studied Civil Engineering at Bac Ninh Construction Secondary School. After graduating, Tu Long worked in many general labor jobs such as carpenter, carpenter, construction worker at construction sites in the town and motorbike taxi driver to cover his own living expenses and help his family.
After a period of working and accumulating, Tu Long took the entrance exam to the Faculty of Cheo - Hanoi University of Theater and Cinema. From here, he began a methodical artistic path.
In 1999, Tu Long came to work at the Cheo Troupe of the General Department of Logistics, starting with small roles. In the process of working in the profession, he both operated in Cheo stages and performed on comedy stages, gradually becoming a familiar face to television viewers through many entertainment programs.
In 2012, Tu Long was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist by the State after many years of persistent activities. In 2015, he continued to be awarded the title of People's Artist, becoming one of the rare Cheo - comedy artists to achieve this noble title when he was still relatively young.
In 2020, the male artist was promoted to the rank of Colonel and 4 years later was appointed Director of the Army Cheo Theater.
Parallel to his career, NSND Tu Long's family life also went through different stages. After his initial marriage was not complete, in 2015, he married his wife Minh Nguyet - a lecturer at the University of Culture and Arts of the Army, who was then a Captain and 12 years younger than him.
Currently, Tu Long and his wife have 3 children (2 sons and 1 daughter). The male artist once said that the biggest desire in his current life is stability in work, family and economy, considering it a foundation for long-term activities.
Despite a tight work schedule with many different roles, People's Artist Tu Long still maintains time for his family. On his personal page, he often shares pictures of his daily life, trips with his wife and children, and extra work activities.
In his personal art projects, he received support from his family, especially the companionship of his wife Minh Nguyet.
In the academic field, People's Artist Tu Long just successfully defended his doctoral thesis in Theater Theory and History on November 29, 2025 at the Vietnam Institute of Culture, Arts, Sports and Tourism.
After this event, Minh Nguyet's wife posted a sharing, saying that this was "a memorable day, marking a journey of learning and labor worthy of recognition", and congratulating NSND Tu Long on completing his thesis with professional significance and contribution value to Cheo art in the military environment.
