Kpop idol Song Mino (or Song Min Ho) of group WINNER is currently enlisting as a public service worker and is about to be discharged.
But on December 17, Dispatch news agency suddenly accused Song Mino of showing signs of neglecting his military service, receiving favors from his superiors, and cheating on timekeeping.
Song Mino moved to Mapo Residence Convenience Facility in March 2024, under the management of his superior, Mr. L. According to Dispatch's investigation, the male idol was often absent and did not fulfill his responsibilities.
Dispatch went to this facility more than 10 times from November to early December, but never met Mino even once.
Dispatch asked Mr. L about Song Mino's work status, but he did not provide any data for privacy reasons.
In particular, Dispatch suspected that superiors favored Song Mino and cheated on timekeeping thanks to the manual timekeeping system.
During the second week of November, Dispatch stood at the gate from 9am to 7pm, but did not see Song Mino. Other staff members also replied, “I have never seen him.”
When Dispatch checked whether Song Mino went to work or not, Mr. L gave the following reasons: "Today is annual leave", "Today is sick leave", "Today is hospital admission day"...
On October 30, 2024, the male idol went on a 6-day, 5-night trip to Hawaii and he did not go to work even after the trip.
However, on the same afternoon, YG Entertainment (the company that manages many artists such as Blackpink, WINNER, Baby Monster, Treasure, AKMU...) spoke out to deny the accusations.
“Mino is fulfilling his military service normally and all leave is in accordance with appropriate rules and regulations,” YG said.
The person in charge of the facility where Mino is serving his service also explained: “I arranged for Mino to work in a private room next door to avoid revealing his face, because there are many people coming here (with the purpose of seeing the male idol). I emphasize that there is no way Mino is neglecting his work. We have had a meeting about this issue and are ready to answer any questions.”
Song Mino began his alternative military service as a public service worker on March 24, 2023. The male idol is expected to complete his service on December 23 this year.
