When asked by the MC about the difficulties in filming, the actress revealed that both she and the crew had many problems because the filming location was in the highlands of Tibet.
"We often encounter sandstorms. At first, I could not read flowing lines because I was high and had to constantly breathe oxygen. There was a scene where the director asked me to run fast, and right at the end of that scene, I fell to the ground and almost fainted because I had difficulty breathing," the actress said.
However, Duong Tu also affirmed that after only one month, her body had gradually adapted to the harsh climate and the filming process became smoother.
Because filming was in a deserted area, the film crew had to move back and forth for about 6 hours. Usually, the actress's filming schedule lasts from early morning to late at night and will miss dinner.
In addition to weather issues, Yang Zi's ability to show the character's transformation from a young girl to a woman over 40 years old is a big challenge.
"Getting into the role from a teenage girl to a middle-aged woman is a big challenge, but I also really like the process. When I can concentrate highly and complete it, I feel extremely satisfied," Duong Tu said.
In "The Tree of Life", Duong Tu brings a new image and is completely different from previous works. To play the role of a female police officer, she had short hair and wore neutral, simple clothes. Details such as sunburned skin, dry lips, and cracked skin are praised for being too realistic, close to the harsh weather reality of the Tay Tang plateau.
"The Tree of Life" revolves around the girl Bach Cuc (Duong Tu) becoming an orphan after a snowfall disaster. In 1998, Bach Cuc was adopted by Bach Cat Can - the leader of the expressway expansion project and his wife Truong Can Can.
In 2005, Bach Cuc became a police officer and joined the forest patrol team. Here, she met captain Da Kiet (Ho Ca), who fought together many times to protect the pristine land. While the two were trying to develop the land of Tibet, Da Kiet was shot dead and important data also disappeared. Bach Cuc was transferred to another workplace. Some of his remaining teammates were in prison, while others left elsewhere.
Despite the failure, Bach Cuc still wants to clarify Da Kiet's incident. After 10 years, with the help of Zhao Yunfei (Zhang Zhehua) and her former teammates, the truth is brought to light, the mastermind must suffer punishment by the law.
