At the end of the year, besides music awards ceremonies, Kpop fans also look forward to the big concerts of the 3 biggest TV stations in Korea (KBS, SBS, MBC). Because these events bring together a strong lineup of artists that is not inferior to large-scale award ceremonies.
Recently, SBS made the Kpop fan community stir when it announced the list of artists participating in the SBS Gayo Daejeon 2024 music festival.
The first list was revealed on December 9, including 28 artists, with many prominent names such as 2NE1, aespa, NewJeans, IVE, LE SSERAFIM, TXT, Stray Kids, (G)I-DLE, NCT 127, NCT Dream...
On December 11, SBS suddenly announced the last artist to appear, Big Bang leader G-Dragon.
SBS Now expressed their excitement when introducing G-Dragon: “Even we can’t believe it… Please hug us tight. This year’s lineup is complete. G to the D or G.O.A.T., the living legend.”
In particular, the SBS Gayo Daejeon 2024 stage marks G-Dragon's return to this music festival after 8 years, since 2016.
SBS also clearly “favored” Big Bang’s leader by placing G-Dragon’s name in the most prominent position on the artist list. On the show’s ticketing page, SBS wrote “G-Dragon’s live performance will be back soon” to attract fans to buy tickets.
Previously, G-Dragon and two members Taeyang and Daesung of Big Bang had an explosive comeback at the 2024 MAMA awards ceremony, which took place in Japan at the end of November.
G-Dragon performed his solo song “Power” and performed with Big Bang three songs “Home Sweet Home”, “Bang Bang Bang” and “Fantastic Baby”.
G-Dragon and Big Bang’s 14-minute performance video has so far attracted 33 million views, the highest among all MAMA performances this year. The video also recorded more than 140,000 comments, becoming a hot “chat room” for Korean netizens.
Videos recording the reactions of the artists at MAMA when Big Bang performed also reached millions of views.
