On December 4, Korean television station KBS announced that the song "Home Sweet Home" by G-Dragon (Big Bang) was not eligible for broadcast.
According to KBS, “Home Sweet Home” violated Article 46 of the Broadcasting Censorship Regulations, as the lyrics mentioned specific brands and products.
KBS allows artists to edit or delete offending lyrics. After editing, if the song passes censorship, it will be broadcast.
“Home Sweet Home” was released on November 22. Although it was released as G-Dragon’s solo song, it features Daesung and Taeyang, so “Home Sweet Home” is also considered a Big Bang song.
At the 2024 MAMA awards ceremony held at the end of November, Big Bang brought "Home Sweet Home" to the stage to perform along with two old hits, "Bang Bang Bang" and "Fantastic Baby".
G-Dragon and Big Bang’s 14-minute performance video attracted 28 million views after 10 days, the highest among the performances at MAMA this year. The video also recorded more than 130,000 comments, becoming a hot “chat room” for Korean netizens.
Currently, the song "Home Sweet Home" is ranked No. 1 on many of Korea's top music charts including Melon Top 100, Bugs, Genie, and Flo.
“Home Sweet Home” did not pass KBS censorship, which means G-Dragon will not be able to perform the song on the weekly music show Music Bank.
It’s not uncommon for K-pop songs to be “banned” by KBS. Recently, Jennie’s newly released solo song “Mantra” was also banned for the same reason.
