In a recent interview on Rolling Stone's YouTube channel, Korean singer Jungkook (BTS) shared very sincere thoughts about his journey of maturity as an artist.
He expressed his gratitude for the way people see him, but admitted that in his own eyes, he still does not consider himself a "pop star". Jungkook wants to continue to improve, so that one day he will have enough confidence to call himself a "star".
Taking personal standards as an example, Jungkook mentioned his English ability. The youngest member of BTS believes that being able to chat naturally in English will be a breakthrough. He revealed that he has tried many language learning applications, but emphasized that the most important factor is still perseverance.
Although quite modest, Jungkook has achieved significant success as a solo artist. The 2023 single "Seven" (featuring rapper Latto) topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart, while "3D" (featuring Jack Harlow) and "Standing next to you" also reached high rankings.
When talking about balancing between solo and group activities, Jungkook said he doesn't think too much but enjoys the creative process.
He also emphasized the strong teamwork spirit of BTS, saying that although each member has a different pace and style, when performing together, they create a unified collective.
In addition, Jungkook participated in composing the song "Hooligan" in BTS's fifth studio album "Arirang" released last month, which received positive feedback from critics and fans.
Concluding the interview, Jungkook shared that he felt comfortable with the position of the youngest member of BTS, because that is a role he has been familiar with for a long time.
Previously, in an interview with the group, Rolling Stone mentioned that BTS is often compared to top superstars, including the ability to perform mainly at the Super Bowl (US Super Bowl) or "compete" in the rankings with big names like Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars.
The leader of RM shared: "Perhaps as time passes, people's minds will change. Currently, the whole world is watching "Parasite" (a Korean film that won 4 Oscars) and many other great achievements of Korean culture. So if there is an opportunity, we will definitely want to do it one day (perform at the Super Bowl)".
Regarding BTS being considered a "competitor" of big artists, RM humbly replied: "They are more great artists than us. We are still very young. We are just a boy group from Korea".
