3 years after retiring, People's Artist Thanh Ngoan said she was appointed Director of the Vietnam Traditional Performing Arts Conservation Center.
Artist Thanh Ngoan retired in 2022, and was the Director of the Vietnam Cheo Theater from 2012 to 2022.
Since retiring, People's Artist Thanh Ngoan has still had a passion for Cheo art. She kept her passion for the profession by performing, teaching, doing projects, researching Cheo... Continuing to take on new tasks, she cherished the desire to contribute to the preservation, promotion and dissemination of the values of traditional art.
The Vietnam Center for the Conservation of Traditional Performing Arts was founded by the Association for the Protection of the Rights of Vietnamese Music Performers (APPA). The APPA president is People's Artist Thanh Hoa.
Sharing with Lao Dong reporter, People's Artist Thanh Ngoan talked about his relationship with People's Artist Thanh Hoa during the special cooperation: "Hoa and I have been close for many years and have long cherished to work on a project together. When Ms. Hoa established APPA, she wanted me to work with her, but at that time I was still the Director of the Vietnam Cheo Theater, and was busy so I could not support her much. At that time, she and I organized an art program about traditional culture. We have had fate together many times.
When I retired, I also thought that I had been a manager for a long time, so I wanted to take a break, but Ms. Hoa encouraged me to continue to be the center director. She said that if I didn't do it, she wouldn't be able to do it. She is passionate but also needs someone with enough heart to accompany her. She really believes in me, so I want to work with her and the artists to pursue their passion on that journey."
People's Artist Thanh Ngoan's real name is Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoan, born in 1966, in Thai Binh. The female artist's family lives in the cradle of Cheo art with many brothers, aunt and uncle participating in artistic work.
People's Artist Thanh Ngoan has been in this field for more than 40 years, winning many major awards such as the Gold Medal "National Cheo Voice" in 1992, the Gold Medal "National Professional Stage Festival" in 1995, the Red Star award of the Vietnam Youth Union.
People's Artist Thanh Hoa's real name is Nguyen Thi Thanh, born in 1950 in Hanoi. After graduating from the Central School of Vietnam Music (now the National Academy of Music) in 1970, People's Artist Thanh Hoa became a singer of Radio Lieu.
She is known as the "singing woman" or "the woman with the voice to conquer time", with songs associated with her name such as: "Love of the land and water", "Con canh ta dao", " khuc lu of the young mother", "Tau anh qua dong", "Tinh thuong vu ngan cong", "Vu xuan lang giac hoa"...
