On April 14, Korean media reported that actors Shin Min Ah, Joo Ji Hoon, Lee Jong Suk and Lee Se Young confirmed that they will participate in the new drama "The Remarried Empress" (roughly translated: Queen of Returning Marriage) of the Disney+ platform.
"The Remarried Empress" is a fantasy romance film, based on the online novel of the same name, attracting about 2.6 billion views worldwide as of December 2024.
This novel was released in 2018 and has been published in many seasons until now. It became extremely popular, adapted into online comics and has been translated into 10 languages worldwide.
"The Remarried Empress" tells a fantasy romance story about Navier, the perfect queen of the Eastern squad. When her husband, Sovieshu, the emperor of the Eastern Imperial, deceived her and divorced her, Navier married Heinrey, the prince of the Western Imperial.
Shin Min Ah will play Queen Navier, who is famous for her intelligence, sharpness and elegance. Joo Ji Hoon plays Emperor Sovieshu, a symbol of absolute power and Navier's husband.
Lee Jong Suk will play the role of the Western Imperial Prince Heinrey, who is hiding a secret. Meanwhile, Lee Se Young has confirmed his role as Rashta, a girl who was a slave and craved the position of Queen Navier.
The film is directed by director Jo Soo Won, who has worked on I hear Your Voice, Pinocchio, Still 17. The film script was written by two screenwriters, Yeo Ji Na and Hyun Choong Yeol, who are co-writers for The Uncanny Counter.

According to Allkpop, "The Remarried Empress" is scheduled to premiere in May or June, and the exact broadcast date is currently being discussed.
