Currently, Vietnamese theaters have 8 Vietnamese films at the same time including "Truy dung dong dien huong", "Cuc vang cua cu", "Cai Ma", "Pha ban: Sinh nam", "Thai chi tai", "Tu a luong trong khong", "Trai tim co co", "Nha ma xo".
The paradox is that, despite being "forged", box office is in a low-rent area. According to Box Office Vietnam, on the weekend of October 31 to November 2, total box office revenue reached only VND 26.6 billion - the lowest in 2025. Currently, apart from "Truy dung long dien huong" temporarily leading the box office because it has just been released, no other Vietnamese films have entered the Top 5 box office, giving way to foreign films.
A series of films failed in terms of revenue

The Heart is Coming, a work with the style of a 1990s cinema, with a revenue of only over 759 million VND, the film is still caught up in a losing storm.
Mothers birthday Party with Hong Anhs outstanding performance and Ngoc Sons participation and screenwriter Binh Bong Bots script also only earned 5.5 billion VND after a long time of showing. The most recent weekend, the film only earned 500 million VND.
The newly released "Thai Chi Do" has sunk, reaching only 1.5 billion VND in the 3 days of the weekend, with a total revenue of only 2.8 billion VND.
"Cai Lam" despite a good start and topping the rankings, is currently out of the top 10, with a total revenue of about 19 billion VND, and still cannot recover capital.
The "haddock" was criticized for its line "many swearing", only earning more than 18 billion VND.
The two long-time Vietnamese films, "The Golden Department of Foreign Affairs" and "The War in the Air", are considered bright spots in terms of revenue. However, Viet Huong - Hong Dao's psychological work has not yet reached the hundred billion VND mark.
Many Vietnamese films have poor revenue and leave theaters early. "Bim mat catching Nai" only earned 759 million VND after 10 days of showing, despite the participation of Bich Ngoc and Luong Gia Huy - actors who participated in "Mua dong".
Previously, the horror film "The Corruption Hill" stopped airing after 9 days, with a revenue of only over 2 billion VND, despite the participation of Hua Vi Van. The Supply House: If You Play and Can You accept earned only 153 million VND, and was considered the worst film of the year when the actors and producers publicly argued with each other.
The horror film "The deal to sell mulberry" leaves theaters with 17 billion VND. I bet you keep a star with Lee Kwang Soo also only earned 11.7 billion VND despite huge promotions. "Sister Upon My High" with the participation of stars Le Khanh, Thuan Nguyen, Quoc Truong... stopped at 16 billion VND in revenue.
The lowlands of Vietnamese cinema and a new ray of hope

After the miracle of Red Rain earning more than 714 billion VND on September 2 and setting a box office revenue record along with the fever of The War in the Air attracting more than 251 billion VND, the Vietnamese film market suddenly fell into an unprecedentedly gloomy period. 20 Vietnamese films have entered theaters in just the last 3 months of the year but have not had any outstanding highlights.
Some film experts predict that this huge situation will cause the market to hit rock bottom in a way that few people expected. That is when Vietnamese films suffered losses due to limited screenings, even works with stable quality were caught up in a cycle of common failures.
In the context of the online platform becoming a successor, viewers only go to the cinema when they are sure to be "worth the money". With so many options within reach, Vietnamese films are more vulnerable when they do not have outstanding advantages.
"Truy dung dong dien huong" currently earned more than 14 billion VND in revenue, reaching the top 1 box office when receiving positive feedback about quality. The film revolves around the stolen coastal treasure, with the participation of Quang Tuan, Ma Ran Do, Doan Quoc Dam... The film's occupancy rate is outstanding, promising to be a boost for Vietnamese films at the end of the year.
