After a long battle with brain cancer, actor Quy Binh passed away on March 6, at the age of 42. When hearing the news of the actor's passing, colleagues were heartbroken and shocked.
In his final years, Quy Binh calmly treated and did not interact with colleagues because he did not want them to worry or see the image of him as disabled and sick.
Due to serious illness, Quy Binh could not attend the 10th People's Artist and Meritorious Artist Award Ceremony held at the Hanoi Opera House in March 2024.
Sharing with Lao Dong reporter, Meritorious Artist My Uyen recounted the time when Quy Binh submitted an application for the title of Meritorious Artist.
"I can't help much, just support Binh to complete the application for donation. I met Binh when he had just graduated and started working at the Children's Theater. Binh has had good roles, participated in stage festivals and won gold medals.
Since then, Binh has had a certain amount of achievements, combined with the mark that Binh left for movies and TV series. The title of Meritorious Artist is worthy of Binh's tireless contributions and efforts throughout many years of his career. But unfortunately, Binh was seriously ill and could not come to receive that title," said artist My Duyen.
According to information from People's Artist My Uyen, because she was not allowed to replace the title of Meritorious Artist for Quy Binh, this certificate of merit and certification were transferred to the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City later.
After 20 years of knowing Quy Binh, artist My Uyen still clearly remembers her first role as the character Inaxin in the play "In the shadow of darkness", in 2008.
Meritorious Artist My Uyen spoke about the last years of Quy Binh's life: "Quy Binh's passing is a great loss. We still have many plans to work. In August 2023, I visited Binh's father's funeral, and he was sick at that time. That was the last time I met Binh.
When Binh was being treated for the disease, he was still very independent, hiding the disease, and did not want people to worry. I called to ask about it, but Binh said it was okay and didn't want to bother his colleagues when they came to visit. We respect that because that is Binh's wish".

In the last year of his life, actor Quy Binh did not participate in showbiz activities. Actor Cat Tuong shared a photo with Quy Binh taken in June 2023, at that time, he was in hiding for treatment.
In January 2024, Quy Binh was very tired and could not move around much. When he was encouraged by actor Cat Tuong and expressed his desire to act together, he replied: "I've run out of that opportunity, sister".
