The Prime Minister has just issued Decision No. 1270/QD-TTg dated June 24, 2025 promulgating a list of public service units under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
When asked what the Theater had prepared for the merger, Acting Director of the Vietnam Song Theater Hoang Van Long said: "We have been preparing for several months now, from project implementation to job positions and many other tasks have been carried out. As for artists under the Vietnam Tuong Theater, there is no change, because in reality, the number of artists of the Theater is not much".
Mr. Hoang Van Long also said: In the next 3 years, Tuong Viet Nam Theater will not have any changes in funding, resources, or personnel. After 3 years, if there is a streamlining of the apparatus, it will start."
I see that the artists in the Tuong Viet Nam Theater and the other two theaters are confident with the new policy, which clearly identifies the three different art genres of Tuong, Cheo, and Cai Luong. If the new leadership can do well and help these arts have more strength, with big art performances, then it's great.
When merging into the National Traditional Theater of Vietnam, the policy of 3 theaters was to continue operating separately, cheo, and catering, only in a common management apparatus, said Mr. Long.
According to Mr. Long, because the three theaters Tuong, Cheo, Cai Luong have different artistic characteristics, the artists will not be affected much.
When asked about how this merger helps save management costs, Mr. Long shared: "It will certainly help save costs, but at present there is not much, after 3 years it will have to be streamlined, from 3 boards of directors to a board of directors, an administrative department for example. The number of department personnel will be reduced.
The Acting Director of Tuong Viet Nam Theater said that from the beginning of 2025 until now, the Theater's artists have had a continuous performance schedule, performing in remote areas, performing in localities with traditions of watching Tuong and performing in the program "Emory of the Competition"...
According to Decision No. 1270/QD-TTg dated June 24, 2025, Co Loa studio and the Center for Cinema Engineering will be merged into the Vietnam Cultural, Sports and Tourism Center.
This center was renamed the Vietnam Cultural, Sports and Tourism Cinema Center, to be completed before August 1.
Artist Minh Tiep received the decision to become Deputy Director of Co Loa studio from December 1, 2023 to present. Minh Tiep confirmed to Lao Dong newspaper reporters that Co Loa studio has been preparing many jobs for this merger plan.
In addition, the Viet Bac folk Song, Dance and Music Theater merged into the Vietnam Song, Dance and Music Theater and changed its name to the Vietnam National Song, Dance and Music Theater.
