This week, Blackpink’s Rose and Bruno Mars’ “APT.” hit No. 2 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart (the equivalent of the US’s Billboard Hot 100).
With this achievement, Rose broke her own record, set last week when the song debuted at No. 4, maintaining the highest position achieved by a female Kpop artist.
At the same time, Rose surpassed BTS' Jungkook with "Seven" (which reached No. 3), becoming the 2nd highest-ranking Kpop artist on this chart, only after "PSY" who reached No. 1 with "Gangnam Style" in 2012.
“APT.”, released on October 18, is a pre-release for Rose’s highly anticipated debut solo album “Rosie,” which is set to drop on December 6. The upbeat pop-punk track “APT.” is inspired by the popular Korean drinking game “apartment game.”
Last week, “APT.” debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100, the weekly chart of the most popular singles in the United States, the world’s largest music market. Rose is the fifth K-pop artist to enter the Top 10 of the chart, following PSY, BTS, Jimin, and Jungkook.
Rose also became the highest-ranking female Kpop artist on the Billboard Hot 100, surpassing Blackpink with the song "Ice Cream" featuring Selena Gomez (ranked 13th).
Additionally, “APT.” debuted at No. 1 on both the Global 200 and Global Excl. US Billboard charts, something no other female K-pop solo artist has ever achieved.
On YouTube Music, “APT.” has reached 354 million streams as of November 2, making it the most-streamed K-pop solo artist song on the platform in 2024, surpassing Lisa’s “Rockstar” with 318 million streams.
Industry experts predict that Rose's single could climb even higher on the UK music charts next week amid global hype.
In Japan, the world's second largest music market, "APT." has maintained the No. 1 spot on the top two streaming platforms - Spotify and Apple Music - for four consecutive days.
On Spotify globally, "APT" has been at No. 1 for 13 consecutive days. The song has also been at No. 1 on Apple Music globally for 9 days.
