Recently, Taeyeon's global fan alliance (SNSD) - DC Inside Taeyeon Gallery - issued an official statement asking SM Entertainment to provide valid feedback and compensation for the cancellation of Taeyeon's recent "The Tense" concert in Japan.
Initially, Taeyeon scheduled to hold 2 concerts at Ariake Theater in Tokyo (Japan) on the evening of April 19-20, within the framework of her ongoing "The Tense" tour in 2025.
However, just 2 days before the first performance, SM Entertainment announced the cancellation of the event suddenly, shocking the audience. The company said that the reason for the two music nights were canceled because the equipment needed for the tour has not been shipped in time for Japan.
Taeyeon itself expressed its disappointment after hearing the news of the concert being canceled.
The singer shared: I was so worried about SONE (SNSD's fandom name) that I didn't know what to say. I hate this whole situation and I apologize to you. It felt like all the efforts and expectations of everyone for my concert were immediately gone up in smoke. I don't know how to express my emptiness and despair.
Repeated mistakes, the whole process was so disappointing and frustrating that I could not believe it. But I know SONE must have been more shocked than me. Thank you for comforting me in this funny situation.
Taeyeon's sharing further angered fans at SM's lack of professionalism and irresponsibility. In particular, this is also a concert celebrating Taeyeon's 10th solo debut, so it is very important and meaningful for the female singer as well as fans.
On April 24, the global fan alliance of Taeyeon (SNSD) - DC Inside Taeyeon Gallery - jointly posted a statement urging SM to provide a detailed explanation for the sudden concert cancellation, followed by an apology and satisfactory compensation to the audience.
They also said that because SM's delay announced, it caused damage to many foreign fans planning to go to Japan, book flights, and hotel rooms to prepare for the concert.
For more than a week, fans have not received any notice of refunds or other solutions from SM.
It is even reported that Japanese fans have resolved the issue themselves by submitting complaints to consumer protection agencies.
Immediately after the fan community's statement was posted, Taeyeon attracted attention with her direct sharing of the post on her personal Instagram account. She supported the fans' actions and once again showed her disappointment in the company's handling.
However, when contacted for feedback, SM Entertainment only said, We have no additional stance on this issue.
The behavior of this leading Kpop company was not only criticized by Kpop fans but also caused outrage in Korean online communities.
