In a new cover interview with GQ, the 30-year-old British actor looks back at his career and mentions the time he had other plans for the future.
In 2021, Tom Holland once told GQ: "If I were still acting in Spider-Man after 30, I would probably have done something wrong.
When asked again about this statement in 2026, right at the time of his 30th birthday on June 1st, Holland said his thinking had changed.
He said: "It's funny, recently I saw that saying reappear and was startled, because I tried to remember what I really wanted to say at that time.
The actor confessed that he once hoped to be able to return the role of "Spider-Man" to the next generation, but so far that has not been achieved. He continued to joke: "Perhaps I should correct the age in that sentence to 37 years old".
Tom Holland further explained humorously that the old statement may have been a way to put pressure on Sony: "Perhaps at that time I was just trying to create an advantage in negotiations with Sony and make them think that I wouldn't act in Spider-Man 4, while a new deal was ahead.
I really don't know what I was thinking at that time. Maybe it's just part of a strategy to create a sense of anxiety for them.
However, Holland affirmed that he is very proud to continue to be associated with this film brand. He emphasized: "The truth is that being able to act in Spider-Man is the greatest joy in my life.
Even, Tom Holland frankly expressed: "Now I think that I will play this role as long as they still want me.
Spider-Man: Brand new day" is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 31 in the US. This is the 4th "Spider-Man" film starring Tom Holland in the Marvel cinematic universe.

Also in the interview, Holland - who started dating his "Spider-Man" co-star Zendaya from 2021 - said that he currently has many things to consider when thinking about his career future.
My personal life currently has many wonderful things and is enough to accompany me for the rest of my life. I feel like I have a new perspective on the position I want to have in Hollywood," he shared.
The actor no longer wants to maintain the mentality of working non-stop as before.
Tom Holland and Zendaya got engaged in 2025. In March this year, Zendaya's long-time stylist - Law Roach - revealed that the star couple was married. However, the two actors have not confirmed this information.
